Students Visit Broadway House
August 7th was a busy day at Broadway House. Sixty students from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey’s Share Program arrived at Broadway House to help with a number of projects, including assisting the residents at the Lady Luck Casino.
The Casino was a big hit with the residents, who got to try their luck at black jack, craps, roulette and slot machines, with “make believe” money of course! While some of the students were helping with the Casino, many were completing projects that were long overdue. The students showed off their handy work by applying a much needed fresh coat of paint to the black boards in the Activities Room and the park benches out front. Our Ice Cream Cart became a work of art when one group of students detailed it.
The Share Program provides support and guidance for freshman medical students. After the event, Chelsea Bower, student coordinator, commented “I believe that this was one of the best CARES days that SHARE has ever held because of the interactive nature of many of the stations. All of the students that I asked said that they really enjoyed volunteering. We would like to help out Broadway House in any way that we can in the future.”
Broadway House looks forward to working with the Share Program students on many future projects.
