First Congregational Church of Montclair Beautifies AIDS Facility

First Congregational Church of Montclair practices what they preach! As part of their “Jesus has left building and we followed” outreach ministry, the church has partnered with Broadway House for a number of years. In any month that has a fifth Sunday, the congregation members don their t-shirts and get to work helping various charitable organizations, Broadway House being one of them.

Two years ago, the group planted a lovely garden that has beautified the environment and provided a relaxing oasis for the residents to enjoy. Church member and owner of Green Harmony Now Landscaping Company, Jose German was the driving force behind the creation of this garden. Utilizing native plants and environmentally safe products, the garden is low maintenance with flowers blooming every season. On their most recent visit First Congregational Church members did some routine maintenance so the garden will flourish with no additional work.

Volunteers also sanded furniture and enjoyed time socializing with residents. The personal relationships that have developed through the years have enriched the lives of residents and church members alike. First Congregational Church is a blessing to Broadway House.
