The Health Care Association of New Jersey (HCANJ) had their annual awards program to recognize the contributions of outstanding long term care nursing staff, residents and volunteers from throughout the state. This year two of the five award winners are associated with Broadway House for Continuing Care. Katrina Thompson, Certified Nursing Assistant and Jane McCready, Volunteer, were honored during an awards luncheon in Atlantic City.

Ms. Thompson is a compassionate and upbeat nursing assistant dedicated to high quality resident care. The guiding focus of her career is caring for people, helping them to feel better brings her much joy. In addition to handling direct resident care, Katrina also presents in-service training to other staff members and brings these programs to other nursing facilities.

Mrs. McCready heads a group of volunteers from Faith Lutheran Church in New Providence who visit every-other-week organizing crafts, activities and quiet visits with the residents. Mrs. McCready’s kindness and generosity of spirit shine through in everything she does. She has organized donations of magazines, clothing and gifts for the facility, created cookbooks for discharging residents with her Girl Scout Troop and distributed Valentine’s cards. These are only a few of the things that Jane is responsible for accomplishing.

Both of these women are well-deserving of this prestigious award. They and all the other people associated with Broadway House work daily to improve the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS. For more information about Broadway House please contact Debbie Freisinger at (973) 268-9797 x1034.
