Broadway House: One Of Four Outstanding Companies
To Receive Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award

Broadway House for Continuing Care was chosen to receive the Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award from the NJ Psychological Association. This program recognizes employers for creating workplaces that foster employee health and well-being, while enhancing organizational performance. The award presentation will be held on June 18, 2008 at Ramapo State College in Mahwah.

Applicants were judged on criteria including: employee involvement; health and safety; employee growth and development; work-life balance; and employee recognition. Broadway House was recognized for creating comprehensive and trendsetting programs for employees.

The Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award was established to recognize organizations that understand the link between employee health and well-being and organizational performance and have implemented a variety of workplace practices in an active effort to create a positive working atmosphere. Broadway House is committed to creating a work environment that recognizes each individual’s contribution to the organization, celebrates their accomplishments, encourages education and understands that life stressors impact on employee health and work performance.

Our facility has introduced programs that enhance employee moral. We serve complimentary meals during each shift and staff love the many dress down days that are scheduled throughout the year. Administration distributes flowers to all staff working on Valentine’s Day and Mothers/Fathers Days to demonstrate their appreciation for the employees. The facility recognizes personal milestones like births, graduations, and service longevity. In addition to a service award at 5 and 10 years of service, staff members are given extra personal days in celebration of milestone anniversaries. The employee turnover rate at Broadway House is 2%, certainly an indication of high employee moral.

Each staff member is empowered to be an integral member of the resident care team. Line staff are involved in infection control training, dietary staff work along side nurse practitioners’ for in-room visits and every suggestions or concern is evaluated to determine if it will make a positive impact on the organization. Staff members are encouraged to pursue further education and tuition reimbursement is available. One of the most beloved programs is our monthly Spa Day. Staff member are offered services such as back massage, hand massage, acupressure, therapeutic touch or aquamassage. These services encourage employees to deal with stress in a healthy way and to take care of themselves. Self-care is often overlooked by those working in a long-term care environment.

Broadway House is proud to have been recognized by the New Jersey Psychological Association for our programs. Our approach to organizational management helps us to hire and retain the most competent and dedicated employees in the workforce today. It is because of our talented and dedicated staff members that Broadway House is a “home” to all those who come to live in our facility.
