Broadway House Staff Member Honored

Jeanine Reilly, James Shipman & Jim Gonzalez

James Shipman, Broadway House’s Program Coordinator for Newark Community Homeless Support Services, doesn’t just touch the lives of Essex County residents. His dedication to assisting marginalized individuals with the issues of housing and employment is unwavering. Recently he was honored for his work as the Assistant Director of the Hoboken Shelter.

Broadway House for Continuing Care is New Jersey’s only long-term care facility for people living with HIV/AIDS. This non-profit organization’s mission is to work with residents to restore their optimum level of health and enable as many people as possible to return to life in their community.

At Broadway House, Mr. Shipman organizes the outreach program that follows all discharged residents for one year. It is the goal of Broadway House to ensure that the “life change” of our residents is successful by providing support services. James uses his expertise in this field to assist residents of Hoboken as well.

Mr. Shipman has been instrumental in the development and ongoing implementation of The Hoboken Shelter’s programs to move clients from homelessness to independence for the past twelve years. James was honored with the Exemplary Community Service Award during the Dr. Martin Luther King Beloved Community Celebration in Hoboken.

James Shipman is dedicated to the elimination of homelessness and helping people reach their highest potential both by day at Broadway House and by night at the Hoboken Shelter. His tireless commitment to helping others is an example of how one person can make a difference in this world.
