On April 26, 2008, Montclair resident and New York City businessman, Gregg Peters Monsees, hosted a fundraiser at his home to benefit Broadway House for Continuing Care. Over 225 people contributed, raising over $27,000 for our facility. So many people supported this event that Mr. Monsees needed to erect a tent on his front lawn to accommodate the crowd!
Jeanine Reilly RN, Executive Director of Broadway House, spoke of the people who live in our facility. With the discovery of drug cocktails, people are living with AIDS. The treatment focus has changed from hospice to rehabilitation in the 12 years since the facility opened. “Broadway House is devoted to helping men and women with this virus return to functional health and go back to living outside our residence” explained Mrs. Reilly. Seventy percent of people who come to Broadway House are discharged back into the community.
“Our facility is so grateful to Gregg Monsees for hosting this event and for his compassion toward those who need a helping hand” acclaimed Jeanine Reilly. She went on to thank those in attendance for helping to make this fundraiser a success Mr. Monsees, president of Putnam Rolling Ladders, (www.putnamrollingladder.com) learned about Broadway House through his church. He immediately offered his home as a venue for a fundraiser and information sharing evening. “This fundraiser was a wonderful opportunity for us share with others the important mission of our facility” said Jeanine Reilly, “So many people have come forward to offer donations of clothing or other items, pet therapy services and resident services like meditation and yoga”. Mrs. Reilly remarked “It is through the generosity of others that Broadway House can continue its’ mission of healing lives.”
