Feb 1, 2016

Broadway House for Continuing Care has received a Four-Star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), an agency operating under the Department of Health and Human Services.

CMS uses a Quality Rating system on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, with 5 stars representing the highest quality. The scores are based on the assessment of several critical areas, including Overall Quality, Health Inspection, Quality Measures, Staffing, and RN Staffing. According to CMS’s web site, the purpose of the Five-Star Quality Rating System is to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas about which the public may want to ask questions.

The Four-Star rating achieved by Broadway House for Continuing Care is confirmation of the organization’s professional commitment to meeting Standards of Excellence in delivering quality care to each resident. Lois Beatty, the Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs at Broadway House, stated, “In healthcare, quality is measured based on performance and the systematic and continuous process of quality improvement. Broadway House staff has displayed a strong level of commitment to excellence and will continue to focus on monitoring and evaluating data to ensure or improve the quality of care we provide to our residents.” To obtain more information on CMS and the Five-Star Quality System visit www.cms.gov.
